R&D COLLABORATION BETWEEN FFRC AND GOLDEN HOPE PLANTATIONS BERHAD

Signing of agreement between DOF and GHPB

The Department of Fisheries Malaysia in its effort to entice more corporate sectors to be involved in the aquaculture sectors has embarked on another collaboration agreement and this time involving its Freshwater Fisheries Research Center and Golden Hope Plantations Berhad (GHPB). In this collaboration Research Officers of FFRC will cooperate with the staffs of GHPB to achieve among other things:

production of quality fish feeds incorporating  oil palm’s bi-products

intensive fish culture technology (in particular Tilapia spp.)

post harvest technology (in particular Tilapia spp.)

The R&D will be carried out at FFRC in Batu Berendam, Melaka, utilising existing research complex and some new tanks structures. However, most of the research funding estimated to be about RM 2.1 million will be provided by Golden Hope Plantations Berhad.

With the successful implementation of the R&D and technology transfer, Golden Hope Plantations Berhad will soon embark on the industry in Jelapang, Perak.
