New history has begun Year 2005 will be ended with a complete moving of FFRC Batu Berendam to the new centre at Gelami Lemi. Remains with the same mission that is to develop freshwater fisheries industry as a primary source of protein and to be one of the primary sources of revenue to the nation, by the year 2006 FFRC will be known as Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre, Gelami Lemi, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
At the beginning, on the 22nd August 2005 the signing ceremony of handing over document has commenced between the Public Works Department Malaysia (JKR) and the Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) in a cozy FFRC Gelami Lemi auditorium where JKR has been represented by the Site Project Officer, Mr. Mohd. Nor Karim, while the Director of Research The Honour Mr. Hj. Ismail Awang Kechik has been the DOF representative. As the document was handed over, the handing over of FFRC Gelami Lemi from JKR to the DOF has formally established.
As a symbolic, both JKR and DOF representative were kindly planted several plants at the building compound. Among of the plants are Tekoma (Tabebuia spectabilis), Cempaka Kuning (Michelia champaca), Tanjung (Mimusops elengi), Kayu Manis (Cinnamomun iners) and Pokok Melaka (Phyllanthus emblica). The ceremony was ended by visiting the research and quarters complex by the guests.
