Fish species inventory of Sungai Gelami and Sungai Tinggi, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan
The inventorisation of fish species in Sg. Gelami and Sg. Tinggi was carried with the aim of recording the present species thrive in the rivers before any significant physical development being carried out in the area for the construction of a new Pusat.The samplings were carried out using electroshocker (Model 15D, Smith-Root Corp.) A total of 27 species were identified from the 4 sampling trips of which 1910 fish were caught. There are two species which are rarely found: Barilius guttatus (Ikan Sikang) and Glyptothorax major (Ikan Depu). Most recent species found was Leiocassis leiacanthus (Weber and de Beaufort, 1912) (Baung Pisang) in March 2001 and Tor tambroides (Kelah) in Jun 2002.
