Paya Indah Wetlands Sanctuary covers an area of 3200 ha. in Kuala Langat, Selangor. The area , which is a part of the  Kuala Langat North Permanent Forest Reserve (a peat swamp forest), encompass a myriad of ecosystems including degraded tin-mine land, logged peat swamp forests, large open lakes and it is the northern part of the Kuala Langat North Permanent Forest Reserve(a peat swamp forest). scene2.jpg (15122 bytes) scene3.jpg (18150 bytes)The whole area presented a mix of ecosystems for a diverse range of flora and fauna and forms a natural  habitat for the bird population both local and migratory. The water bodies too have been found to contain many types of aquatic fauna that will be highlighted in this text. The wildlife in this area is representative of lowland forest habitats. The dominating swamp forest is reflected in the bird and mammal profile: 131 species of birds and 26 species of mammals were recorded within the area (Nor Hisham Pers. Comn). The area is also a 'green lung' of the Multimedia Super Corridor due to its strategic location 30 km south of Kuala Lumpur, 12 km west of Putra Jaya, 15 km north of Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the nearest town Dengkil, is 4 km away.
